November 2019 Bussei Script

In our tradition, the Eitaikyo observation allows us to show our gratitude for the Teachings by making sure through donation that the Temple will survive to continue sharing them. The word is sometimes translated as “Perpetual Chanting of the Sutras.”

Many Temple members honor their parents, grandparents, and other family members by adding the loved ones’ names to the Eitaikyo list with a set donation, and then each year donating again in their name. For that reason, people may make an Eitaikyo Service donatoin or an Eitaikyo Name donation, or both.

Please note that while most of the names on the Eitaikyo list are of people who have passed away, the names of living people can also be added. Some Temple members have chosen this option to express their deep gratitude to living people.

Please contact the Temple Office (619-239-0896) for more information about the Eitaikyo programs, or see the November Bussei Script with an Eitaikyo form on the last page.

This year Eitaikyo is being observed on Sunday Nov. 3, starting at 10 a.m.

End of Daylight Savings Time and Falling Back. Sunday will be the first day of standard time, leaving Daylight Savings behind. We will fall back one hour for Sunday. We are gaining an hour, so our 10 o’clock service may feel later in the day than it would otherwise.
