Placeholder: Welcome Message to go Here

SHOWN: September 2016 President's Message. Well, we out did ourselves, two O Bons! When we first realized that we had an extra weekend in July this year, we starting talking about the possibility of having a smaller OBon for our temple and the larger community one at Balboa Park. We knew that we needed the support of Sensei and the BTSD members and lots of volunteers. You did not disappoint! Our success was because of all of you that made the time to volunteer, purchased food and goods, spread the word about the two events and participated in the O Bon Odori’s.  A Special Thank you to Ken Muraoka and Michael Kinoshita for taking the lead! What a great team effort.

As another O Bon season quickly becomes fond memories, our fundraising efforts continued in August with the annual rummage sale and golf tournament.   The Asian Food and Craft Fair will be replaced with the Temple’s 90th Anniversary Service to include the Kieshiki Ceremony officiated by Bishop Umezu, celebratory luncheon and Junior YBA/Temple Reunion. I hope we can get 100 percent participation for this memorable event.

You should have received your 90th Anniversary letters from the temple.  One letter gives you the overview of what is happening on the weekend of October 15 and 16 and the other letter talks about the 90th Anniversary Fundraising Project. One of the reasons for this campaign is to upgrade our aging electrical system and address safety issues. The temple’s to do list is long and we are constantly finding issues that need attention.

We appreciate all of you that donate time, goods and monies, sometimes without ever getting credit or reimbursed.  This giving is from the heart and nothing in return is expected.

We can’t thank you enough but know we are deeply grateful for your generosity and kindness.

In Gassho,
