Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Drive

Did you know?

Currently, 40% of children in San Diego County face nutrition insecurity.

Of San Diego County’s 3.3 million residents, nearly 1.1 million people face nutrition insecurity. Of this number, 284,500 are children. Nutrition insecurity means that little or no safe and nutritious food is available at home.

Due to our region’s high cost of living, tens of thousands of low income families, including low-income military families, and fixed-income seniors rely on the San Diego Food Bank to put food on the table.

Buddhist Temple of San Diego is supporting the San Diego Food Bank’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Drive. Look for the red donation barrels at our temple to drop off your food items (through March 25th).

On the final day (Saturday March 25th), our temple will be hosting a drive-thru food collection from 9am to 11am. Just drive into the parking lot and volunteers will grab donations from your trunk.

Most needed food items are: Canned chicken and tuna, dry & canned beans, cereal, rice, nuts & seeds, peanut butter, canned soup, canned & dried fruit, canned vegetables, powdered milk, infant formula.

We are unable to accept glass jars or homemade food products.

For a list of other San Diego locations where you can deliver food donations please visit this page.

If you’re not able to drive to any of these locations you can always donate online. Please visit the San Diego Food Bank Virtual Food Drive page.

Thank you for your generosity.
