San Diego Buddhist Temple at 2929 Market Street

In our transition from the pandemic the Temple may be closed and parking lot locked on some days. See our website for current activities. If you are dropping off a donation for one of our collection events, please call or email ahead to arrange a time. Please note we no longer have a rummage sale in August.

Our Temple is located on the South side of Market Street between 29th and Dodson Streets.

For Driving Freeway 94 West and Taking 30th St

From the 30th Street exit, bear right up the hill until you reach the signal on 30th Street. Turn left and drive over the freeway. At the signal on Market Street, turn right. The Temple is one block ahead on the left.

For Driving Freeway 94 West or East and Taking 28th St

From the 28th Street exit, turn left on 28th Street. You may notice you will be driving under an overpass. That overpass is Market Street, so you can't turn onto it directly. Continue to the signal at Island Street, and turn left and proceed to the stop sign. Then proceed to the upcoming left turn onto 29th Street and turn left. The Temple will be on your right further up the block, and Market Street is straight ahead.

Our Buildings and Onsite and Street Parking

Onsite Parking

See photo above, identifying best entrances and the three halls on our property. Onsite parking is available for Temple visitors and members during Temple hours, but the lot remains private property and other cars may be towed. Please note that we lock the gates each evening; the lot is only open when the temple if open. During our Bazaar and Obon events, we use the full parking lot.

Offsite (Street) Parking

If our onsite parking lot is full, or being used for a special event, we recommend street parking and apologize for any inconvenience. Please note that local businesses along Market Street do not make parking on their property available to the public, even on a Sunday when the business may be closed. This includes the small complex directly opposite our Temple on Market Street. In every case the business will have posted that unauthorized vehicles will be towed.

Special or Major Events

For major events like our Annual Japanese Cultural Bazaar or the Temple Bon Odori, if we are able to arrange for additional parking it will be included in our publicity.
