Four-Part Series on Basic Buddhism Starts Sunday, August 9

 
 

Sangha members and others are cordially invited to attend a four-week series on the very basics of Buddhism. These basics are shared across all schools and sects.

Our informal services will take place at 10 a.m. in the Hondo (our main hall) on August 9, 16, 23, and 30. Attendance is free. Each session is expected to last about an hour. Topics for each service follow:

1. Before the Buddha was the Buddha: Indic concept of Ahimsa; origin of middle way

2. First Turn of the Wheel of Dharma: Three Jewels, Four Noble Truths, Eightfold Noble Path

3. Suffering and the World of Samsara: Acceptance and Transcendence

4. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas: Dedication and Perseverance

Each service will have a minimum of ritual, a presentation, and time for questions.

Note:. Buddhism 1-2-3 is a weekly Zoom discussion class. Each Sunday service will be followed by the B123 Zoom that Wednesday at 7 p.m. — that is, August 12, 19, 26, and September 2. If you need the login, please ask the Temple.
