SATURDAY, July 26 with Shawn Takeuchi and Dr. Mitsuo Tomita

Shukatsu, a modern term in Japan, refers to the many aspects of end-of-life planning. To avoid the pain and confusion of death and its impact on family and friends, now in Japan it is a new tradition to talk things through ahead of time and make sure plans are in place.

Join us at the Temple in our now air-conditioned Annex Hall from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or so for the latest in Shukatsu as presented by Mitsuo Tomita, M.D., retired family physician. For this session, Dr. Tomita has invited a special guest.

WELCOME SHAWN TAKEUCHI, SAN DIEGO POLICE DEPT.

Meet San Diego’s Assistant Chief of Police Shawn Takeuchi, as he discusses this important piece of end-of-life planning, and how law enforcement and emergency medical techs are often the first on the scene, and how your plans can anticipate first responders.

Many of you will recognize Shawn Takeuchi from earlier in his career, when he served as information officer and frequently appeared in press briefings on operations in San Diego.

Officer Takeuchi will also discuss Emergency Medical Techs who are sometimes the first responders.

The session is expected to last some 90 minutes and there will be time for informal conversation and socializing after as well.

Please let us know if you are coming! The event is free and open to the public, but we ask you to call or email the Temple with your name, the number of people in your party and a phone number or email address. We’re at 619-239-0896 or info@btsd.net. Please let us know if you will need childcare.

Light refreshments will be served.
