Here is background on the service..
THIRD OF THREE SPECIAL SERVICES ON BASICS OF BUDDHISM
SUNDAY, AUGUST 24
HOW the EIGHTFOLD NOBLE PATH APPLIES TO US ALL
Earlier in this series you would have seen how deeply Buddhism relies on the concept of Ahimsa, non-harming, on the Middle Path of decision making, the three poisons of the unexamined life, and the Four Noble Truths setting out a framework for understanding our difficulties or dissatisfactions.
in this session you will hear another about another important part of the Buddha’s first discourse, the Eightfold Noble Path that he recommended to those wishing to pursue a more spiritual life.
Although intended originally for yogi and ascetics, the eight dimensions apply to the rest of us as wel.
This service is designed to be both educational and spiritual. It will have a simplified format, with less ritual or music. Bill will introduce some common features of our weekly services and explain their role.
He will also identify some things we can all do to increase peace and calm,
and apply wisdom and compassion in our lives.
