Passing of a Dharma Friend: Helen Sasaki
Though she lived in northern California, Helen Sasaki frequently attended Sunday services here to visit children and grandchildren and was familiar to many of our Sangha members. Until 2023 she and her husband, the late Rev. LaVerne Sasaki, would visit, and then, after her husband died, on her own or with another of her grown children.
We welcome the Sangha to read her obituary here.
Her grown children, Brian Sasaki and Sharon Sasaki, are very active in our Sangha.
Sharon, a Certified Minister’s Assistant, who is preparing for Tokudo ordination, spoke movingly of her mother at our May 25 Service. Remarkably, Sharon had learned of her mother’s death that very morning, and yet continued with her message because, she said, that was what her mother would have wanted her to do.
Watch Sharon speaking about her mother at the May 27 service. Or watch Sharon’s full Dharma message here. You can also stream that service from the beginning here.
