2022 Winter Clothing Donation Drive: Thanks for your donations!

The Buddhist Temple of San Diego, through its Dana Group, officially closed the 2022 Winter Clothing Donation Drive on Sunday, December 18th.

Thanks to the donations received from generous temple members and Dharma friends we were able to deliver jackets, sweaters, and other warm clothing items to Streets of Hope, a nonprofit whose support efforts focus on those who live on the streets of San Diego.

A carload of donations from this drive was delivered recently, and a second delivery will take place by the end of December or early January. The first delivery also included 60 warm hats that were knitted by Dharma Bum Temple volunteers through their Homeless Hats Project.

The Dana Group wishes to thank everyone who supported this drive; those that donated warm clothing, and volunteers who sorted items, made deliveries to Streets of Hope, delivered yarn to Dharma Bum Temple to be turned into warm hats, and in general helped in some way with this drive and other community outreach initiatives throughout the year. It’s just amazing how all of you stepped up to the plate and practiced Dana for the benefit of our community.

Just practice good, do good for others, without thinking of making yourself known so that you may gain reward. Really bring benefit to others, gaining nothing for yourself. This is the primary requisite for breaking free of attachment to self.
